Overview
For the first time since the bike got its BS6 updates, Suzuki has increased the prices of its Gixxer SF and Gixxer models, both of which are now roughly Rs 2,000 dearer. The Gixxer SF is now priced at Rs 1,23,940 while the MotoGP edition costs Rs 1,24,970 (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi). Suzuki has not given any new features and the bikes do feel a lot pricier in comparison to their BS4 counterparts.
The Gixxer SF BS6 gets a 155cc air-cooled and fuel-injected motor. This BS6-compliant mill puts out 13.6PS at 8000rpm and 13.8Nm at 6000rpm. That is 0.3PS and 0.4Nm less than the BS4 Suzuki Gixxer SF. Kerb weight is also up by 2kg so expect a drop in performance. The Gixxer SF BS6 continues to feature a 5-speed gearbox. The Gixxer SF shares its tubular diamond frame with the larger Gixxer SF 250. It is more rigid than the first-gen model but is heavier as well since it uses thicker pipes. The clip-on handlebars and split-seat setup also lend the bike a more aggressive seating position. Suspension setup includes 41mm telescopic forks and preload-adjustable mono-shock. Braking is via disc brakes at both ends with single-channel ABS. It is one of the few bikes in its segment that sport a larger 140-section rear tyre.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF BS6 is available in just one variant. However, its blue colour variant with MotoGP livery commands a Rs 1,000 premium over the other two colours. Other than the colours, the bikes are identical.
